Grand Central Station

Pinellas County Transit Authority

Challenge

The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority challenged Bacon Group Architecture to accommodate as many buses as possible on a very small site.  Because of the high customer and staff traffic, site furnishings had to be durable, and the building had to provide safety and security for staff, modern Customer Service Representative building, and driver amenities.

Results

Affectionately known as the “steering wheel” for its circular design, the new Grand Central Station’s compact design accommodates the small site, with dramatic glass block columns with fiber optics that change colors to give the terminal a dramatic night time appearance, bullet proof glass for safety, and amenities including a driver lounge and public and staff restrooms.
